Breakfast with Stephanie and the deCordova Museum!!

On the plate:  Date night!  Daddy and mommy are going out on the town, and Tita Kristen is babysitting, Hallelujah!

Friends and diner food, what a perfect way to start a day!  I absolutely LOVE diners and greasy spoons, there's just something so cozy and comforting about them and I swear, they always have the best coffee.  This morning, Alexander and I met my friend Stephanie for breakfast.  Stephanie is one of my colleagues from the school that I work at.  We had an absolutely lovely time catching up and were simultaneously entertained by Alexander as well.  To our surprise, as we were leaving, we saw the former music teacher, Charlotte, at the diner as well!  A mini reunion!  What a delight!
Once I got in the car, I plugged in the address to the Discovery Science Museum in Acton, MA into the GPS.  As we were tooling down the highway, I saw a sign for the deCordova Museum in Lincoln, MA.  Since it was an absolutely gorgeous and sunny fall day, I decided to take a quick detour and head towards the museum.  I am SO glad that I did, because it was the perfect outdoor museum for a very active 18 month old!  It was outdoors and allowed Alexander to run around and explore.  Here's some pictures from our little field trip:

Running around and enjoying the fall weather.

You'll notice that Alexander liked touching
all of the previous sculptures.  However,
when we got to this one, he shouted, "Fae!!  Fae!!" (face)
and ran the other way.  I pointed out the eyes,
nose, mouth, and ears, and tried to get him to go near
it, but he decided against it.  I suppose that I would
probably be hesitant to approach a face that was bigger
than my entire body as well.
This sculpture was pretty cool!  It was like a giant
xylophone.  Alexander enjoyed this one.

I thought this was beautiful, but Alexander
wasn't pretty terrified of it.

After all of that walking, Alexander decided
to take a break on this bench.

Alexander was waiting for a fist bump from mommy.
That's always a guaranteed way to get a good laugh
out of him.

I was just playing around with the close-up feature of my camera.
I seriously love the fall and all of its beautiful colors.

What a fantastic field trip!  It was an absolutely gorgeous day, we got some exercise, and saw some beautiful sculptures.
No food to share today!  Joseph and I are going to go on our date night tonight! :)  Thanks to my sister Kristen, we go out on a date night once a month.  We typically leave after Alexander has gone to bed and go out to a nice dinner.  Now it's time for me to take a little catnap so that I can actually stay awake during dinner tonight. :)  Until next time...

Love and kisses,
Nikki
